Q&A with Senior Designer Jenny Truong

Question 1: Hey Jenny! What brings you to Park & Battery?
I am a senior designer at Park & Battery based in NYC. I’ve always worked in advertising and worked with Mike and Ted in San Francisco a couple of years back. When I heard that they were starting an agency, I knew I wanted to get on board.
Question 2: What’s your favorite piece of work you’ve ever made?
My favorite piece of work I’ve ever made was a project I did in school for Vans called, “Dodge the Sh*t”. It’s a video game concept where you put on a pair of Vans and try to avoid obstacles on the sidewalk. School projects were always great because there is no budget and no limitations. I remember having so much fun creating it and making the pixel animations for it – and it is my dream to make my own game one day. I love ideas that are a little bit cheeky and playful.
Question 3: What’s your favorite piece of work you didn’t make (but wish you did)?
There was an integrated campaign that came out a few years ago that Droga5 did for Mailchimp. It was basically 9 mini campaigns that included microsites, video content, social media, and out of home. But, the caveat is they did not name the client – so naturally people decided to search it up on Google and were directed to MailChimp. This campaign was so elaborate and unique, and I wish I could’ve been a part of it. (And they won many awards!)
Question 4: What do you like most about working at Park & Battery?
I love that I’m able to help build something from the ground up. Being a new agency there’s a lot of things that have not been established yet. Knowing that a lot of the work I do here has a direct impact is really fulfilling. Not just as a designer – but as someone who is also helping shape the culture and the structure of things.
“Knowing that a lot of the work I do here has a direct impact is really fulfilling.”
Question 5: What are you looking forward to?
Looking forward to seeing the team grow! We’ve already grown so quickly within a couple of months, so I am curious what even 1 year will look like for us. And also with the flexibility of remote work – looking forward to collaborating with people around the world!
Question 6: If we could meet you at any intersection in the world, where are we going and what are we doing?
Let’s meet at Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo. We’ll do a walking tour and eat every snack in sight!
